A serious multi-vehicle collision in Saint-Paulin, Quebec, has left two people, including a minor, with life-threatening injuries, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). The crash occurred on the morning of Friday, July 24, 2026, prompting a major emergency response and an ongoing investigation.
Authorities said the collisions occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Rang des Douze-Terres and Rang Saint-Louis in the Mauricie region.
According to preliminary findings, a vehicle traveling on Rang des Douze-Terres was attempting to turn onto Rang Saint-Louis when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle. One occupant of the turning vehicle sustained critical injuries.
SQ spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel confirmed that authorities fear for the life of the seriously injured individual.
Three people were traveling in the second vehicle involved in the initial collision. Two occupants suffered minor injuries, while a young girl sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Shortly after the initial impact, a third vehicle was unable to avoid the wreckage and became involved in a secondary collision. The driver, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, suffered minor injuries.
Emergency responders, including paramedics, firefighters, and police officers, arrived quickly to provide medical assistance, secure the scene, and coordinate the transport of the critically injured victims to hospital.
Due to the severity of the incident, Rang des Douze-Terres remains closed in the affected area while investigators examine the scene and work to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the collisions.
The Sûreté du Québec continues to investigate the crash. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of the collision and have not indicated whether any charges are anticipated.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, use alternate routes, and follow directions from emergency personnel until the roadway has been safely reopened.
